Seren Smale (left) and Ryana Macdonald-Gay represented England at the Under-19 World Cup in 2023Wicketkeeper-batter Seren Smale and seamer Ryana Macdonald-Gay have been called into England’s squad in South Africa.Smale, 19, has been added to the T20 and Test squads to act as back-up wicketkeeper to Amy Jones in place of Bess Heath, who has returned home with a fractured thumb. Macdonald-Gay, 20, has only been added for the Test match between 15 and 18 December which concludes the multi-format series. Both players made their England debuts during the white-ball series against Ireland in September but are uncapped in Tests.
